Financial
and Membership Report
The Building Congress achieved solid financial and membership growth
during 1998. Bolstered by increased program income and higher membership
dues, total revenues exceeded $1.6 million for the first time. This
enabled the Building Congress to enhance member services, including
the production and mailing of a comprehensive membership directory,
and increase industry advancement activities with government, the
media and the business community. Greater long-term financial stability
was assured through growth in the reserve fund to the equivalent
of one year's operating expenses.
For the coming year, the Building Congress has resolved to increase
and broaden the membership, implement a host of informative and
entertaining events, and promote the industry legislatively in Albany
and at City Hall. With membership now approaching 1,200 individuals,
the Building Congress is able to take advantage of growing constituent
support to promote its services to the industry as a whole.
