New Faces New Places

New York City and the building industry are in the midst of a remarkable regeneration. Both the region and our industry are simultaneously being transformed economically, physically and demographically.

We must invest in the
infrastructure needed to catalyze and sustain economic growth. We must get back to our roots and stake out a bold vision for infrastructure investment.
Eliot Spitzer
Governor of the
State of NewYork

From previously neglected waterfronts to former manufacturing districts, vibrant new neighborhoods are rising or in the planning stages. At the same time, established neighborhoods and venerable New York City educational and cultural institutions are expanding and modernizing for the 21st Century.

New industries are joining bedrock economic engines to spur a more dynamic and diverse economy. And the allure of New York continues to attract new residents from all over the globe.

Fresh faces in the state governments of New York and New Jersey have joined the Bloomberg administration in demonstrating a rare ability to examine the region’s long-term needs and to forge ahead cooperatively with visionary projects that will serve many generations to come.

The New York building industry is a major component of this remarkable reshaping, and it too is changing to adapt to 21st Century New York. Our workforce is diversifyingand getting younger. Our architects, engineers, contractors and union labor are designing and building more efficiently, sustainably, innovatively and safely.
