Event Highlights
New York Building Foundation

Formed in 1998 to promote the long-term growth and well-being of the industry through a program of research, educational and philanthropic activities, the New York Building Foundation has expanded its impact on the industry by adding to its Board of Governors, seeking new philanthropic activities, increasing its scholarship awards and research support, as well as broadening fundraising activities.

It is our duty as an industry,
especially during this time of
prosperity and growth,to give back to the City, as well as cultivate and inspire the next generation of building community leaders.
Richard L.Tomasetti
Chairman of the Board
of Governors and Chairman, Thornton Tomasetti,Inc.

Now led by Chairman Richard L. Tomasetti, the Building Foundation recently approved an additional contribution of $35,000 to the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, bringing the total contribution from the Building Foundation and the Building Congress to $100,000.

In seeking to better serve the industry and contribute to public debate on issues concerning design and construction, as well as the City’s economic future, the Building Foundation has made research and analysis a major part of its efforts. Sponsored together with the Building Congress, this research includes reports on New York City construction activity, infrastructure and development strategies, and industry
demographics.

Another major goal of the Building Foundation is to support the development of the next generation of industry leaders by providing funding for fellowships, internships and scholarships that support students in academic programs related to design, construction and real estate. These include annual awards to students in the ACE Mentor Program
and specialty secondary schools in the New York City public school system.

Created by industry leaders to marshal the diverse talents and energies of its constituents toward projects that give back to the community, the Building Foundation is pursuing its mission with renewed vigor.
