Foundation Events
The Building Foundation’s Annual Theatre Benefit seeks to honor those whose public and personal accomplishments
exemplify exceptional dedication to improving the quality of life of all New Yorkers, and raise funds to support the
Foundation’s educational, research and philanthropic activities. The evening includes a reception/dinner for all
participants and prime seats at a performance of a hit Broadway show.
Since the inaugural benefit in 2004, past honorees have included:
Mysore Nagaraja of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority,
Frank Lombardi of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey,
Kathleen Grimm and William Goldstein of the New York City Department of Education and the
School Construction Authority;
John F. Hennessy III of Hennessy & Williamson, who was the Building Foundation’s founding Chairman;
Peter M. Lehrer of Lehrer, LLC
Past events have featured performances of Legally Blonde, A Chorus Line,
Wonderful Town and The Odd Couple and combined have raised more
than $300,000.
In addition, the Building Foundation’s fundraising activities include a live auction that is part of the annual New York Building Congress
Golf Outing. For the past two years, the Auction has included exotic
vacations and foursomes at many of the New York area’s premier golf
clubs and has raised more than $35,000 for Foundation programs
