As part of its mission to better inform policy decisions, provide members with timely industry news, and project an accurate and positive image of the industry, New York Building Congress staff and its team of consultants have placed particular emphasis on research, analysis and publications in 2005.

In the first half of 2005, the Building Congress produced its annual New York City Construction Outlook, which examines prospects for renewed strength in the construction sector as well as challenges faced by the industry. More recently, the Building Congress produced its 2005 Report, which updates members on the organization’s activities while introducing other industry members, public officials and the media to the priorities of the Building Congress.

The Building Congress also has increased the frequency of (e)Update, an electronic newsletter designed to provide up-to-the-minute information on relevant policy issues, and suggest ways members can become involved.

The Building Congress recently completed and mailed its comprehensive 2005 Membership Directory, providing pertinent contact information for the more than 400 organization members.

Later this summer, the Building Congress expects to release the third in its Electricity Outlook series. This edition will examine the City’s potential electricity generating needs over the next decade and beyond.

The Building Congress also has begun work on a new Construction Industry Profile, which will quantify the breadth, diversity and economic impact of the City’s building community.
