New York Building Foundation Activities
April, Richard L. Tomasetti, PE, Hon. AIA, chairman and co-founder of Thornton-Tomasetti Group, Inc. and one of New York City’s preeminent leaders in structural engineering and design, was elected Chairman of the New York Building Foundation, the charitable arm of the New York Building Congress.
“Richard Tomasetti represents the continued strength of this industry as well as the vitality of the New York Building Congress, which has been fortunate to have consistently outstanding leadership,” said Building Congress President Richard T. Anderson. “Richard succeeds John F. Hennessy III, joining a long list of men and women who exemplify this history of devotion
and intelligent service to the industry and New York City.”
“ It is a great honor to be named Chairman of the New York Building Foundation by my peers at the New York Building Congress,” said Mr. Tomasetti. “I look forward to continuing the dedicated work of my predecessor John Hennessy and the mission of the Foundation in giving back to the City and region from which we all have received so much.”
At present, the Foundation is working with Building Congress staff and consultants on an industry profile, which will seek to define the design, construction and real estate industry and describe the contributions it makes to the economy, quality of life and physical environment of New York City. This report is a continuation of the Building Foundation’s work as a participating sponsor on important industry research. Prior efforts have examined the need for additional electric generation, financing for future infrastructure, and development strategies in New York City.
On December 14, the Foundation will host its third annual Theatre Benefit to support Foundation activities. The evening will include a reception and dinner at FireBird Restaurant followed by a performance of the Broadway revival of the smash hit musical - A Chorus Line
