WatchList
New York Building Congress is compiling information on the construction industry’s extraordinary response to the events of September 11, 2001 and its aftermath. From the skilled union laborers who rushed to the World Trade Center site in the hours after the attack to the construction firms managing debris removal, the industry’s strength, character and innovation have been a shining example of the City’s grit and perseverance.

We are asking members to share stories about individuals or firms who answered the call when New York City needed them most. We would like to learn about individuals who used their skills in search and rescue, about firms that offered assistance to competitors or helped displaced workers and families, and about ongoing efforts by members to make the City better than ever.

The Building Congress will chronicle these examples of the industry at its best. We are considering a special publication of stories and photos, a section in our upcoming Annual Report, and periodic tributes to the building community, co-sponsored by New York Construction News.

If you have a story to share about your colleagues in the industry, please call Cathy DelliCarpini-Kruse at (212) 481-9230.
