| WTC Update
The revitalization of lower Manhattan continues to gain momentum. On July 4th, Governors George Pataki and James McGreevey joined Mayor Michael Bloomberg and WTC Developer Larry Silverstein to lay the cornerstone of the Freedom Tower, signaling the commencement of underground work.
During a topping out ceremony in October, the final beam of steel was lifted into place at 7 World Trade Center, marking its dramatic return to New York City's skyline. In addition, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation recently announced the selection of Gehry Partners LLP and Snøhetta as architects for the cultural complex on the World Trade Center site. The firms have begun the schematic design process on the two buildings that will include dance, theatre, museum, and fine arts facilities.
