Anderson Elected to National Academy of Construction
New York Building Congress President Richard T. Anderson recently joined a select group of construction industry leaders named to the prestigiousNational Academy of Construction (NAC). He was inducted into the Academy along with nine other industry leaders from around the country during an October ceremony in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Other prominent New Yorkers that are NAC Members include Charles A DeBenedittis, F.H. (Bud) Griffis, Patricia J. Lancaster, and Charles H. Thornton.
Several construction industry leaders formed NAC in 1999 to promote best practices and the benefits of construction activity to the entire nation.
In part, the organization is designed to:
- Recognize past and present industry leaders for their personal contributions to the industry and their professional contributions to the built environment;
- Establish a body of engineering and construction leaders who are available to provide advice and service to government and the industry;
- Serve the industry through leadership activities including mentoring, promotion of best practices and public advocacy.
“We are pleased to welcome Richard Anderson to a growing body of distinguished leaders,” said NAC President Jack E. Buffington.“Throughout his career and most notably through his work as President of the New York Building Congress, he has ably built coalitions among the industry’s diverse segments, worked to provide an accurate image of the industry, and promoted sound public policy to spur infrastructure and economic development.”
Mr. Anderson said, “I am honored to be selected to the National Academy of Construction. In large part, it is a recognition of the strength of New York City’s building industry and the positive contributions that Building Congress members are making throughout the world.”
