DOMINICK M. SERVEDIO ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF NEW YORK BUILDING CONGRESS
New Board Members and Officers Installed During Building Congress Annual Membership Meeting
NEW YORK, January 19, 2006 – Dominick M. Servedio, P.E.,
one of New York City’s preeminent leaders in design and construction,
today was elected Chairman of the New York Building Congress on
the occasion of the organization’s Annual Membership Meeting.
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of STV Group, Inc., Mr.
Servedio manages one of the nation’s largest and most diversified
design and construction management firms. Under Mr. Servedio’s
leadership, STV and its partners are designing the acclaimed World
Trade Center Transportation Hub. Prior to joining STV in 1977, Mr.
Servedio spent fifteen years in the public sector, at one point
serving as Assistant Director of the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority.
Mr. Servedio, who succeeds F.J. Sciame Construction Company President
and CEO Frank J. Sciame, takes over the Building Congress during
a period of nearly unprecedented construction activity spanning
virtually all sectors of the building industry. It is also a time
when forward-looking and vital public infrastructure projects face
uncertainties concerning the availability of financing. As Chairman,
he will help shape the organization’s policies and programs
and continue its distinguished record as an advocate of innovative
design, responsible development and infrastructure investment.
“I have long been proud of my association with the Building
Congress, which plays an important role as a coalition focused on
issues of concern to all industry sectors,” Mr. Servedio said.
“I am excited by the challenge of helping guide this organization
at such a pivotal time in the City’s history. We are in the
midst of a great building boom that can be sustained only if we
devote our attention and our resources to expanding our public infrastructure,
such as our transportation network and educational system, which
are crucial to support the additional demands of a growing economy
and population.”
Said Mr. Sciame, “It has been a true pleasure serving as
Chairman of the Building Congress these past two years. The experience
puts into focus just how dedicated the people of this industry are
to New York City’s future. On a range of critical issues,
including revitalizing our waterfronts, improving our educational
infrastructure, expanding our transportation system and rebuilding
Lower Manhattan, members of this industry have been a force for
positive action and long-term thinking. I look forward to working
with Dominick Servedio as he ably carries forward with a dynamic
agenda for the Building Congress.”
“Dominick Servedio represents the strength of this industry
as well as the vitality of the New York Building Congress, which
has been fortunate to have consistently outstanding leadership,”
said Building Congress President Richard T. Anderson. “Dominick
joins a long list of men and women, most recently Frank Sciame and
Marilyn Jordan Taylor, who exemplify this history of devotion and
intelligent service to the industry and New York City.”
In addition to Mr. Servedio, the Building Congress also elected
six new Vice Chairmen, Mary-Jean Eastman, Principal, Perkins Eastman
Architects; Edward J. Malloy, President, Building
& Construction Trades Council of Greater New York; Salvatore
Mancini, President and CEO, Skanska USA Civil; Peter A. Marchetto,
CEO, Bovis Lend Lease; William D. Smith, President, Parsons Brinckerhoff
Quade & Douglas; and Susan L. Hayes, President and CEO, Cauldwell
Wingate Company LLC. The new Treasurer is Maureen A. Henegan, CEO,
Henegan Construction; Secretary, Robert E. Selsam, Senior Vice President,
Boston Properties, Inc.; and Richard T. Anderson continues as President.
