The years 2007 through 2009 will see unprecedented construction activity in all five boroughs resulting in the strongest of the seven Building Congress forecasts released to date, and significantly exceeding record construction spending in 2006.

At a special New York Building Congress Construction Industry Forum on July 9, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg called on members of the design, construction and real estate industry to reach out immediately to their New York State Assembly members and demand immediate action on his PlaNYC initiatives, especially his congestion pricing proposal.

The New York City building industry generates $60.8 billion in annual revenues and accounts for more than 275,000 jobs according to a new Building Congress report, Bedrock of the Ecomony: The New York City Building Industry. The report finds an industry that contributes significantly to the City’s economy and employs a diverse workforce that is getting younger and living in the five Boroughs.
