The New York Building Congress hosted its second annual Membership Appreciation Reception on October 1. More than 100 members attended the event as did a number of prominent guests, including Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer, State Senator Catherine Abate and City Council member Kathryn Freed.
The event was held at the magnificent new headquarters of the NY Mercantile Exchange in Battery Park City. Peter Davoren, Vice President and General Manager at Turner Construction Company, which was the general contractor for the 500,000 square foot facility, hosted the reception
This is a fitting year to salute our members as 1998 has been marked by record growth and unprecedented participation in the Building Con-gress committees and task forces. Our recent successes largely have been fueled by the active and dedicated involvement of our members in the building community, said Chairman John A. Cavanagh.
