The New York Building Congress, with financial and analytical support from its charitable arm, the New York Building Foundation, has developed a robust research and analysis program that consistently produces relevant and timely information on current market conditions and infrastructure investment.

Using a wide range of up-to-date economic and construction sources, the Building Congress provides its members, the business community, and policy makers with key insights into emerging trends and challenges related to capital budgets and private development throughout the five boroughs.

In 2012 alone, the Building Congress produced 24 separate electronic data reports and policy updates, along with its regular roster of print publications and special reports. And 2013 is on pace to exceed that number.

Building Congress publications are delivered directly to members, government officials, the media, and other interested parties through email and the Building Congress website, as well as through periodic direct member mailings.

RESILIENCY AFTER SANDY - HARDENING THE CITY
The Building Congress Task Force on New York City Storm Preparedness, chaired by former Lieutenant Governor Richard Ravitch, released a wide-ranging report that examines the City's response to Superstorm Sandy. The report also establishes a set of priorities to help New York better prepare for and respond to weather emergencies, which are growing more frequent and severe.

HOW TO SAVE NEW YORK CITY'S INFRASTRUCTURE
The Building Congress is preparing an update to its groundbreaking 2004 report, The Capital Question. Like the original, the 2013 version will provide an analysis of all capital spending in New York City while also examining the City's growing reliance on debt financing and the potential for alternative sources of infrastructure funding.

NEW YORK CITY CONSTRUCTION OUTLOOK 2013-2015
This annual forecast and analysis, which focuses on three years of construction spending and employment, remains a Building Congress signature publication. Widely circulated among business, labor, and policy communities, the report forecasts construction activity while also providing deeper insight into the trends and challenges that could shape the industry and the City's economy in the coming years.

NEW YORK CITY CONSTRUCTION OUTLOOK UPDATE
Now in its fifth year, the Building Congress New York City Construction Outlook Update series accesses real-time data on a range of leading building industry indicators to provide a monthly snapshot of conditions and trends affecting all sectors of the industry. The publication, which blends raw data with timely commentary, focuses on issues such as employment, economic impacts, construction spending, workforce demographics and the outlook for commercial development.

INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE
In early 2010, the Building Congress launched Infrastructure Update, a data-driven analysis of infrastructure policy and budgetary programs. The publication examines the prospects and challenges facing all of the various City, State, Regional and Federal entities entrusted with maintenance and expansion of the City's key infrastructure systems. Recent editions have focused on federal funding for Superstom Sandy recovery efforts, the City's capital budget and the fate of the MTA payroll mobility tax.

(e)UPDATE
To ensure that members, policy makers and the news media remain up-to-date on late breaking developments and industry priorities, the Building Congress publishes periodic, policy-centric (e)Updates. Recent editions of the electronic publication, which combines policy discussions with a call to action, have focused on storm preparedness, Hudson Yards, and health and hospital construction project delivery.
