2016 Golf Outing

As part of its Capital Budget Campaign, the Building Congress has released a paper outlining proposals to improve the City’s change order process and will meet with Department of Design and Construction Commissioner Feniosky Peña Mora to discuss it later this month.  To read the Building Congress paper, please click here.

The Building Congress continues its efforts to secure passage of the New York State Emergency Responder Act (NYERA) in the New York State Assembly, meeting individually with several Assembly Members over the summer to discuss the bill and encourage their support. The Building Congress Board of Directors met with New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie on September 20. Speaker Heastie discussed Assembly priorities for the upcoming legislative session, which include reforming the criminal justice system and ensuring continued investments in infrastructure statewide.

The New York Building Foundation recently renewed its funding commitment to Manhattan College's Women and Minority Engineering Summer Extension Program. The program provides high school students with lectures and laboratory experiences related to concepts in science and the various engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, environmental, and computer engineering.

   The New York Building Congress recently appointed three industry executives to its Board of Directors.  The appointees are James G. Bach, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Louis Berger; Henry Kuykendall, Vice President - New York, Delta Air Lines, Inc.; and Frances Resheske, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Consolidated Edison Company of New York.
   The March of Dimes 40th Anniversary Transportation & Construction Breakfast will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at the New York Athletic Club. The event begins with a reception at 8:00 AM, followed by the breakfast and program at 8:30 AM.  The Award Recipients are Daniel Tishman, Chairman Tishman, Vice Chairman, AECOM; Charles Murphy, Senior Vice President, Turner Construction Company; Edwin L. Christian, Business Manager, International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 14; and Veronique Hakim, President, MTA New York City Transit.    On Thursday, October 6, the 14+ Foundation will hold its Annual Cocktail Party at Vandal. The Cocktail Party will take place from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM, followed by an after party from 8:30 PM - 11:00 PM  The 14+ Foundation was Co-Founded by Building Congress Vice Chairman Joseph Mizzi to support children's education in Africa.
