Jordan L. Gruzen, FAIA, 1935-2015

Forever Remembered...

Jordan L. Gruzen, FAIA

As many of you know, IBI Group • Gruzen Samton has lost one of the founding partners of Gruzen Samton Architects, Jordan Gruzen, FAIA, last week. Continuing the rich legacy of socially relevant and creative architectural design that began with his father's firm Kelly & Gruzen in the 1930's, Jordan dedicated his professional career to the advancement of the art of architecture as a catalyst for better housing, public transit and infrastructure, educational institutions, facilities for the elderly and the quality of life for the citizens of New York City and elsewhere. His love of this City and his dedication to innovative architecture resonates in the quality and creativity of his built work that is his gift to New York and his legacy for all to experience.

Jordan was a relentless advocate of design excellence, in constant pursuit of new opportunities, directions and solutions that would advance this profession. An active member of the architectural community, his unceasing energy and drive put him in the forefront of promoting this profession to a wide spectrum of clients, City and State organizations, students and other professionals.

His influence on our firm and the city remains profound as we mourn his loss.
