NEW YORK BUILDING FOUNDATION SIXTH ANNUAL PREMIER WINE DINNER
On Thursday, March 21, 2013 wine enthusiasts gathered at The Four Seasons restaurant for the New York Building Foundation’s Sixth Annual Premier Wine Dinner. A primary fundraiser for the Building Foundation, this year’s event raised $115,000 for the Foundation’s ongoing research and scholarship programs.
The evening began with remarks by guest speaker Caswell F. Holloway, Deputy Mayor of Operations, who spoke about infrastructure and rebuilding in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Building Foundation President Richard T. Anderson presented Deputy Mayor Holloway with a $25,000 check from the Foundation’s Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund for the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. The donation will go towards the City’s housing recovery programs, which help fund minor-to-moderate, non-structural repairs to one- and two-family homes affected by the storm.
The sold out crowd enjoyed an elaborate seven-course meal, paired with a tasting of fine wines, donated from the private collections of Foundation Governors and friends. Throughout the evening, guests also had an opportunity to bid on live auction items, which included select vintage wines.
Wine for the auction and dinner was generously donated by: Jeffery R. Capazzi, The Jobin Organization; Tony DiDio, Tony DiDio Selections, LLC; Mark Moran, Mark Moran Solutions, LLC; New York Building Congress; Lawrence P. Roman, WDF, Inc.; Thuy Trinh, Resorts World Casino New York City; and Floyd Warkol, KSW Mechanical Services. Tony DiDio of Tony DiDio Selections provided commentary on the wines served and auctioned.
Frank J. Sciame, Chairman of the Building Foundation, hosted the Champagne Reception and thanked the attendees for their support of the event. Since its inception in 2008, the dinner has raised more than $450,000, which has enabled the Foundation to expand its research activities and charitable and educational scholarships.
The philanthropic arm of the New York Building Congress, the New York Building Foundation was formed in 1998 to promote the long-term growth and well being of the New York City building industry and the wider community through an active program of research, educational and philanthropic activities.
