Event Highlights

Over the past year, the New York Building Congress demonstrated once again the importance and strength of its growing roster of industry and membership events. Among last year’s highlights, starting with then Attorney General Eliot Spitzer in January, the Building Congress hosted each of the four main gubernatorial candidates as part of its Construction Industry Forum series. Other Forum participants included New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine, CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein and New York City School Construction Authority President Sharon Greenberger. More than 2,000 people attended the 85th Anniversary Leadership Awards Luncheon and Industry Recognition Dinner. Honorees at these events included Santiago Calatrava, Deputy Mayor Daniel L. Doctoroff, Salvatore Mancini, John V. Magliano, Robert E. Selsam, Richard Seth Hayden, Peter S. Kalikow, Frank J. Sciame and Maryanne Gridley.  The annual Golf Outing at Brae Burn and Century Country Clubs in Purchase, and the annual New York Building Foundation Theatre Benefit, which featured a performance of A Chorus Line, offered members a chance to network in relaxed settings while raising funds for the Building Congress and the Building Foundation. Most recently, a Membership Appreciation Reception washeld at the newly expanded Morgan Library and Museum.
