Committees and Councils


Architects Leadership Council:
Composed of New York City's largest architectural firms, members discuss common issues and advise the Building Congress on key design issues facing the industry and the City.

Communications:
Contributes to efforts to promote the industry's accomplishments through multimedia marketing and networking activities.

Council of Presidents:
Includes leaders of industry organizations and associations who meet to discuss policy and broad issues affecting the industry.

Economic Development:
Monitors and evaluates City and State economic development policies, procedures and incentives, as well as conditions that impede or assist private-sector construction.

Energy:
Focuses on key energy issues for New York City, including the need for additional electric-generating capacity and enhanced conservation programs.

Environment:
Considers the impact of regulatory procedures on economic development, opportunities for resource-conserving design and construction, and reviews environmental construction programs.

MTA Construction Industry Working Group:
Addresses design and contractor issues between the industry and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Public Agency Council:
Composed of leaders of Federal, State, City, and regional infrastructure organizations in New York City, the Council promotes productive interaction between these organizations and senior industry representatives.

Public Building:
Reviews design and construction of institutional facilities in New York City and helps the Building Congress express strong support for the funding of rehabilitation and construction. Public Procurement: Focuses on government procurement and public construction procedures with the purpose of finding ways to make the process more efficient and productive.

Transportation & Infrastructure:
Evaluates the City of New York capital budget and capital programs of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the New York State Department of Transportation.

The Building Congress also creates ad hoc task forces to deal with specific issues as needed.
