One of the strengths of the New York Building Congress is its ability to bring together key players from design, construction, and real estate, as well as public officials who manage and implement New York City's infrastructure projects, economic development initiatives, and capital programs.

The broad range of Building Congress policy forums, awards galas, committee meetings, and special events provides members with the opportunity to debate and influence emerging issues, salute the achievements of colleagues, and network with associates across all industry sectors.

Authority Chairman & CEO Joseph J. Lhota addressing the MTA's capital funding challenge; Empire State Development Corporation President & CEO Kenneth Adams detailing Governor Cuomo's economic agenda; and the annual Construction Outlook forum, featuring New York City Economic Development Corporation President Seth W. Pinsky and the release of the latest Building Congress multi-year construction forecast.

Nearly 2,000 members and guests joined the Building Congress to honor a group of exceptional men and women whose professional and personal accomplishments have helped shape and improve the City. Honorees at the 90th Anniversary Leadership Awards Luncheon and 2011 Industry Recognition Dinner included New York City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, New York University President John Sexton, Weidlinger Associates President and CEO Raymond P. Daddazio, Douglaston Development Chairman Jeffrey E. Levine, and MTA New York Transit President Thomas F. Prendergast. The 2011 Jack & Lewis Rudin Award for Service to New York City was presented to Jack Resnick & Sons, Inc., Chairman & CEO Burton P. Resnick, and the George A. Fox Public Service Award was presented to CBRE Tri-State Region Chief Operating Officer Cherrie Nanninga.

The New York Building Foundation continues to expand its research activities, charitable giving, and educational scholarships largely through the revenue generated by its successful annual events. Most recently, these events included the 5th annual Premier Wine Dinner and the 10th annual Theatre Benefit, which recognized New York City Council members Diana Reyna and James Vacca for their work on Out2Play and New York City Department of Buildings Commissioner Robert D. LiMandri for his continued support of the New York Building Foundation's Construction for a Livable City initiative. These events, as well as the Building Congress annual Golf Outing, provide significant networking opportunities while raising awareness of the important work of the Building Foundation.
