2007 Event Highlights
The New York Building Congress continues to hold an impressive array of events featuring important public officials and industry leaders discussing emerging issues, Citywide economic development initiatives, and the accomplishments of the design, construction and real estate community. In 2007, these events included Construction Industry Forums featuring: Mayor Michael R.Bloomberg; New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr. and Bronx Borough President AdolfoCarrion Jr.; Metropolitan Transportation Authority Executive Director & CEO Elliot G. Sander; New York City Economic Development Corporation President Robert Lieber; Port Authority Executive Director Anthony Shorris; and Downstate Empire State Development Corporation Chairman Patrick Foye. The 86th Anniversary Leadership Awards Luncheonand 2007 Industry Recognition Dinner drew record attendance and honored luminaries from the industry and government whose careers have contributed to the development and prominence of NewYork City. Honorees included Daniel R. Tishman, Peter L. DiCapua, John M. Dionisio, Mary-Jean Eastman, Susan L. Hayes, and Mysore L. Nagaraja. In addition to these events, the annual Golf Outing at Brae Burn and Century Country Clubs and the annual New York Building Foundation Theatre Benefit, featuring a performance of Legally Blonde, offered networking opportunities in relaxed settings and raised funds for the important work of both the Building Congress and the Foundation.
